Apple’s iMessage service has a problem, to be more specific users experience problems receiving text messages from iPhone users. This issue is more widespread amongst users who have recently taken the leap from iPhone to Android or some other OS. This doesn’t mean that everyone else is free of risk, it could occur to someone who has never even owned an iPhone but has a number that was previously registered to Apple’s iMessage by its previous user.
Sending a message through iMessage isn’t as simple as it looks. If an iPhone user sends a text the Messages app first of all checks if the recipient is registered Apple’s iMessage service and if he or she is, iMessage sends an iMessage in place of a normal text message.

The only way the user can differentiate is through the color of the message, green for SMS and blue for iMessages. This is where things get messy. If you are a user you switched from the iPhone, your number will still be registered in Apple’s directory. So, when someone using an iPhone sends you a message, that message will go to Apple’s servers but not make it out. Why? Because you don’t use an iPhone anymore. However, the sender of the message will have no idea because they will get a delivered notification since their message has been received by Apple’s servers.
This problem can also occur if you never possessed an iPhone. If you purchase or are given a number by someone who was using an iPhone you fall into the same trap and messages sent by iPhone users will not reach you.
Android not Receiving Texts from iPhone? How to Solve this Problem?
The most obvious way to get rid of this issue is to unregister your number from Apple’s iMessage service directory. Apple has created a tool to help users do so easily after they faced the possibility of lawsuits.
Deregister iMessage if you can’t receive texts from iPhone
Go to Apple’s Deregister and Turn Off iMessage website. Enter your phone number and Apple will send you a text message with a confirmation code which will be required when prompted by the site to prove you have possession of the phone number in question. After a few hours, you will be unregistered and receive texts from iPhone users as standard SMSs.
Another method can be used if you still have your old iPhone, without going through the online tool. Insert your SIM into the iPhone and open Settings.
Disable iMessage on iPhone to Fix text message problems
Then go to Messages and disable iMessage by greying out the slider and do the same to disable the FaceTime slider as well. Now simply return you SIM to your current phone and everything should work perfectly.
